BIXI, Montreal’s public bicycle sharing system introduces electric bikes
Bixi, Montreal’s public bicycle sharing system is now offering its users electric bikes. BIXI launched the pilot project from August 15 to November 15, 2018.
A fleet of 20 electric bikes will be available for use for the launch and BIXI Montréal plans to add an additional fleet of electric bikes over the coming weeks.
Each time participants use an electric bike, they will be invited to complete a survey to share their experience and interest in the bikes.
The fee for renting an electric bike will be the same as for a regular BIXI bikes but riders are required to wear a helmet and have a Class 6D drivers licenses.
BIXI Montréal will also be doing a test simultaneously with
five (5) electric bikes and two (2) stations connected to the electric network in the Saint-Laurent borough.
