The official start of winter brings spring weather and a Cold Moon
The shortest day of 2018, is today, Friday, December 21 and marks the start of the winter solstice in the Northern Hemisphere at 5:23 p.m.
The darkest day of the year marks the end of the summer solstice and as of tomorrow the days will be gradually getting longer.
Tomorrow you will get a chance to view the last full moon of the year, the Cold Moon.
“This Cold Moon is so close to the solstice, it will be 2029 before it happens again. So it’s not a once-in-a-lifetime event, but still, you don’t see this too often.” (CNN Travel)
While staring at the moon, you may also want to make a wish on the shooting stars from the Ursids meteor shower. The annual meteor shower will peak between December 22-23.
