Health care for workers boasted productivity

Ancient Egyptians had right to paid sick days. Text’s form the Egyptian village Deir el-Medina dating back over 3000 years suggest there existed a state supported health care net work to help ensure workers building the the royal tombs at the Valley of the Kings remained productive. The state provided a physician, medicine, housing with servants close to the workers work-site to these highly skilled workers and their families.

These skilled workers were paid them a monthly wage in the form of grain and records from the texts show that when workers were absent from work their monthly ration distributions remained consistent enough to indicate the workers were paid.

From an article by Anne Austin to the Washington Post

Presently the administrators, mangers, supervisors have unlimited sick days.
