Marvel Studios Releases First Female-led Superhero Film on International Women’s Day

Disney subsidiary Marvel Studios releases Captain Marvel, its first female-led superhero film on International Women’s Day.

The female hero, according to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige is the most powerful superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

There is speculation across the media universe that Captain Marvel will battle with Thanos, the powerful galactic conqueror who is bent on destroying half of all humanity, in movie Endgame (April 2019) the sequel to the Avengers: Infinity War (2018).

Captain Marvel premiered in London on February 27, 2019, and theatrically released in the United States and Canada today March 8, 2019, in IMAX and 3D.

Near death, U.S. Air Force pilot Carol Danvers was transformed into a powerful alien warrior for the Kree, Captain Marvel (Brie Larson). Returning to earth years later she must recall her past in order to prevent a full invasion by the shapeshifting Skrulls.
