Stephen Bronfman told the Canadian Press last December that the next step in bringing a major league team back to Montreal would be to acquire land for a stadium. His group has selected the Peel Basin, property owned by the federal government, as the site of a future stadium.
Claridge, the private investment firm of the Bronfman family, has registered and filed a mandate with the Quebec Registry of Lobbyists in order to get the support of the Legault government regarding the upcoming discussions with the federal government over the potential acquisition of a parcel of land located south of the Peel Basin.
Both the Quebec government and the city of Montreal welcome the possibility of the return of major league baseball to the city.
