Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement, advising of a major spring storm that will hit the province of between Sunday evening and into Monday. Conditions will gradually improve late in the day on Monday.
A low pressure system from Texas will intensify as it tracks across New England and the Maritimes on Monday. Precipitation generated by this system will reach Southern Quebec beginning Sunday evening and intensify overnight while spreading eastward.
Rainfall amounts of 30 to 40 millimeters are expected south of and along the St Lawrence Valley between Montreal and Quebec City as well as over the Ottawa Valley. Heavy rain may cause flash floods and ponding on roads with flooding a possibility in low lying areas.
For a number of regions to the north and east, however, 15 to 25 centimeters of heavy snow is expected. Accumulation of wet, heavy snow could result in broken tree limbs.
