MMFA World Premiere Thierry Mugler Couturissime Exhibition Opens Tonight – Special Nuit Blanche Admission Price
Nuit Blanche, Montreal overnight party gets underway this evening with over 200 activities offered to the public, most of which are free of charge. With so much to do and so little time, approximately 12 hours, we will be sharing throughout the day some of our favourites, to help you plan your night.
First on the list is public transportation, the STM is running the Metro all night, also there are free shuttle buses which travel through primary locations of the festival. The last thing you want to spend your time in is looking for parking, stuck in traffic and drinking and driving.
The festival’s popularity is also its shortcoming, in the form of the sizeable lineups for the more popular indoor events, such as the Thierry Mugler Couturissime exhibition at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts (MMFA).
The exhibition created and produced by the MMFA reveals the multiple worlds of Thierry Mugler – the visionary couturier, director, photographer and perfumer – by revisiting his prêt-à-porter and haute couture creations.
More than 140 garments made between 1973 and 2001, most of which are being shown for the first time, as well as a wealth of unpublished archival documents and sketches.
Photographs by world-renowned fashion photographers as Helmut Newton, Sarah Moon, Pierre et Gilles, and Richard Avedon, to name a few, round out the show.
The opening is scheduled for 5 pm and runs until midnight. The MMFA is offering a special Nuit Blanche admission price, $11.50. If the novelty of attending the Exhibition opening night appeals to you, remember to arrive early. If not, you can select a less crowded event and you will still have six months to catch the exhibition at a less crowded date.
