Some of the best skateboarders in the world are in Montreal this weekend as they compete on a brand new 38,000 square foot skate park beside the Olympic stadium.
Montreal is one of the stops in the Vans Park Series Pro tour competition, taking place on July 12 (10.00 a.m.) and July 13 (noon) at the Olympic Park Esplanade. Vans decided to move the Canadian leg of the competition to Montreal from Vancouver.
“For us to bring this to Montreal was really an opportunity to capture the rich skateboard community and history that Montreal has,” Alex Auchu, marketing director of Vans Canada told CTV News.
Construction on the skate park began two years ago, with funding from Vans Canada and multiple levels of government and was completed this week.
