Saint Joseph’s Oratory Dome, Montreal’s Highest Point to Get Panoramic Observation Deck

Saint Joseph’s Oratory on Mount Royal is Canada’s largest church, the world’s third largest church dome and the top of the dome is the highest point in Montreal.
An $80-million renovation is going to permit visitors to climb to the peak of that dome for a 360-degree panoramic view of the city. The observation deck is expected to open in 2020.
Another $30 million is being spent on a new reception centre with a restaurant for the two million visitors to the basilica each year.
Brother André Bessette, canonized a saint in 2010, founded the oratory when he was a humble doorman and janitor at nearby College of Notre Dame.
