This year Montréal en Lumière (Montreal Highlights), turns twenty and again the festival’s program features top gourmet dining, live shows, lots of lights and a Ferris wheel in the Quartier des spectacles for the young and the young at heart.

Culinary activities

The festival is divided into three major events, the first being the culinary activities featuring 45 of Montreal’s finest chefs offering something for every taste and budget. To celebrate the festival’s 20th edition the Nuit Gourmande will be introduced, an all-new event featuring restaurants, grocery stores, cafes, bars, bakeries, and specialty stores.

Nuit Blanche

The classic event of the festival is the best-attended single-day event in Montreal – The Nuit Blanche. Last year on the night when Montreal is a city that doesn’t sleep, over 300,000 participants traded in their nights sleep to attend some of the 200 cultural activities, most of them free, spread over more than 150 places throughout the city. The metro will remain open all night.

To light up the outdoor site in all its glory, it takes about 150 km of wiring, 1,600 lighting projectors, and 18,000 electrical connections. Pretty impressive, eh?

A free, fun outdoor amusement park for young and old

During MONTRÉAL EN LUMIÈRE the Quartier des spectacles and its Place des Festivals are turned into a winter wonderland. The outdoor site offers a multitude of free activities including Illuminart, a program circuit of interactive and luminous works, free shows, and food kiosks too keep you going.
