Today, at 3:34 PM EST Monday 11 February, Environment Canada issued a winter storm warning for the Metro Montreal and Laval areas.
The storm warning states that snow will begin over the Outaouais and Montréal regions Tuesday afternoon and will reach the Quebec City region by Tuesday evening. The highest snowfall amounts, 25 to 40 centimeters, should occur over Metro Montreal to the Eastern Townships.
Additionally, this storm will be accompanied by strong winds which will produce extensive blowing snow reducing visibility to near zero making travel difficult over some locations.
Winter storm warnings are issued when multiple types of severe winter weather are expected to occur together.
The winter storm watch is in effect for the following areas:
- Châteauguay – La Prairie area
- Laval area
- Longueuil – Varennes area
- Montréal Island area
