The world’s first commercial rooftop farm in Montreal is giving FREE guided tours of the rooftop greenhouse

Image a city filled with rooftop greenhouses, growing enough produce to feed itself sustainably.

This was the vision behind Montreal’s Lufa Farms when they opened the first commercial rooftop farm in 2009.

Today the urban farm grows vegetables on Montreal rooftops year-round, and ships them in weekly baskets to registered members through neighbourhood pick-up points or Eco home-delivery by electric car.

While public access is limited, the urban farm regularly hosts free tours of the facilities which include a visit to the rooftop greenhouse.

The FREE guided tour lasts one hour, and you need to sign up for a time slot that matches your preferred language.

The company also resells produce from other farmers and producers, including meats, fish, bakery goods, etc., through the online farmer’s market, the Marketplace.
